What is Invisalign®?

Grove City Dentist Serving Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Ohio

Invisalign® is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in adult and older teen orthodontics in the past several years. It is capable of straightening your teeth in a fraction of the time required by traditional braces, and can produce similarly remarkable results.

Using a series of custom created aligner trays, Invisalign® works by gently shifting your teeth into their optimal position. During your initial Invisalign® consultation with Ohio dentist Dr. Sheridan, computer imaging software will be used to take pictures of your teeth and map out their ideal alignment. Based on this information, a set of Invisalign® aligners will be created to treat your specific issues. These trays will be switched out approximately every two weeks to gradually move your teeth into their proper alignment.

Your Role in a Successful Invsalign® Treatment

The success of your Invisalign® treatment relies on your willingness to follow all of Dr. Sheridan’s advice. You will need to wear your aligner trays at all times except when you are eating or brushing your teeth. The ability to remove your aligners makes these tasks easier, but realigning your teeth requires you wear your aligners as directed at all other times.

Outside of the Invisalign® health benefits, one of the largest benefits of this method of orthodontia is that your aligner trays are made of clear plastic. This means that even while worn, they will be practically unnoticeable to everyone you come into contact with.

Invisalign® is a wonderful, noninvasive, and incredibly effective way to correct all forms of malocclusion. Working with you on an individual basis, Ohio Invisalign® dentist Dr. Sheridan can help you determine if it is the best option for your smile.
